Thank you for letting me be part of this Stephanie, I really enjoyed answering these questions and talking about not just the books I love, but the books that my kids love too.

It's such a good book isn't it Danusia, really gets their imagination going too! What other books have your kids enjoyed?

I adore the book more than my kids to be honest. My triplets love Dog Man but are engrossed in Oyla the mag.

Dog Breath - the horrible trouble with Hally Tosis is a fave!

Yes same! Dog Man is a fave here too, so silly but it does make me laugh. I'll have to look up Oyla the mag and Dog Breath, sounds like my kids would like these! Have you read the Treehouse books? They are good, silly but funny like Dog Man too.

Just looked the Treehouse series up. Thanks for the recommendation - bought 8 of them on Vinted for £7! That should go down well as starters for my voracious readers. One is reading and listening to The Hunger Games series. That triplet likes gore 😉

Such a lovely series AND a lovely way to get to know you better, Jenna. There’s some crossover with my kids as my eldest is 9 and also loves Dog Man (can’t get her to read chapter novels as she finds them overwhelming) and the youngest is almost 1 and loves his books too. My mum just passed me her childhood favourite, Walter the Lazy Mouse, which is 57 (I think!) years old and in amazing condition.

It's a great idea for a series isn't it! Oh really, that's so interesting about your eldest too - Dog Man is a fave and all the offshoots too, just got a load of Captain Underpants books too. My eldest has just in the last few weeks got into Jacqueline Wilson books which I'm really happy with. I think it can be a confidence thing too can't it with the chapter books, all that text and no pics seems overwhelming to them. What books does your youngest enjoy? How lovely you got your mums childhood book too, so special and lovely to share with your children too. It's amazing how kids books and stories stand the test of time too.

He's loving the peekaboo board books. Peekaboo Sun, Peekaboo Moon and Peekaboo Love. In a few months I think he'll begin getting excited about vehicles, most likely tractors, as they'll be out in the fields and there's a tractor parade that happens once a year!

Ah yeah, you can't beat a peekaboo book - I had to resort to the cloth peekaboo books because my youngest was a bit gung ho with the peekaboo flaps!! Oh wow, the tractor parade would be a dream for my youngest, I bet they get a good turn out for that too.

Ah Ioved this Stephanie and Jenna. I was also totally in love with Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters’ Club as a young teen/tween?! I also became very into a series of books by Sarra Manning that came with the magazine J17, I think I even wrote to her to tell her! Now very intrigued to find out more about her new book and what it would be like to read her words from a totally different life chapter. I love reading to the children but find it hard to fit in time for reading for me despite loving it! I currently have a number of books on the go which is a new approach for me but hopefully I will actually finish one of them soon! xx

So glad you enjoyed Lyndsay! We had similar taste as teens - I know those exact books you are talking about - Edie and Dylan were the couple I think - that takes me back! The Sarra Manning book is a love story that spans decades, kind of like One Day in a way. Absolutely I find it hard to find the time too to read to the kids too, though my youngest likes to plonk himself on my lap and not move until I've read the book so no choice there!! What books are you reading atm?

Thank you Jenna and sorry I seem to have joined your thread with Sarah! I LOVE that you remember Edie and Dylan, my goodness I loved them and those books. Really thought I might have been the only one who read them! Ah the new book sounds lovely, I loved One Day (of course!) I am currently reading Twelve Moons by Caro Giles (I’m reading along with each full moon and actually up to date!, Milk by Joanna Wolfarth, The Blue Jay’s Dance: A Birth Year by Louise Erdrich and now also Weathering by Ruth Allen for Luisa Skinner’s gentle book club here on SS. Have you read any of these? Highly recommend them all! xx

I have a talent for retaining a lot of useless info about the 90's/00's! They were such good books, I wanted to be Edie! Ooh I love the sound of all of those books, will have to have a look at them, all new to me - always love getting new recommendations. xx
